M28 CHARACTERISTICS

The M28 is a twin-engine high-wing cantilever monoplane of all-metal structure with twin vertical tails and rear clamshell door.

Aircraft offers excellent characteristics including Short Take-Off and Landing (“STOL”), the largest payload capacity in its class, easy conversion from one configuration to another, and a rear clamshell cargo door. The M28 is capable of operating from any type of runway including the world’s most inaccessible airstrips, unpaved, grass and gravel runways or high-elevation airfields.

The fully-configurable cabin area can be adapted to meet a number of mission profiles, including cargo/passenger transport, VIP transport, border patrol, as well as Search and Rescue (SAR) operations.

The M28 has the largest payload capacity of its group. The door can be opened in flight. The manually operated cargo hoist has 700 Kg (1,540 lb) Loading Capacity. The hoist is ideal for remote areas and makes loading/unloading quick and easy.

The M28 STOL aircraft is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-65B turboprop engines. They can get an M28, complete with 19 passengers or more than 2 tonnes of cargo, into the air after just 548 meters of runway. It is also equipped with a suite of avionics including the Bendix King Gold Series (made by Honeywell), digital map display, standard VHF/UHF radios (2 each), VOR/ILS/ GPS, MKR, DME, autopilot, ELT and the latest safety features such as TCAS II, EGPWS Mk VI, FA2100 Voice Recorder Assembly, and the SSFDR Flight Data Recorder.

With an engine performance which boasts a proven unique bleed air anti-icing installation certified to Fly Into Known Icing (FIKI), the M28 aircraft offers best-in-class mission capability in extreme environmental conditions with operational temperature safety margins of - 50°C to 50°C.

For civil and military missions

The M28 holds two type-certificates recognized in the Aviation Industry - namely the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), which are two of the main Civil Aviation Authorities in the world. The M28 Aircraft also is certified by Indonesia, Nepal, Taiwan, Brazil and India.

PZL Mielec also produces a series of Light Military Transport and Maritime Reconnaissance Aircraft for the Polish Air Force and Polish Navy. These aircraft are used for cargo transport, paratroop transport, sea border patrolling, Search and Rescue (SAR) operations, Maritime Patrol missions and Submarine Detection and protection of the national economic sea zone.
